The actual shifting of the Unit was completed by the end of January, 1984 and located in the present location providing some Govt. quarters temporarily by the Dist. Administration Ukhrul.

The Deputy Commissioner, Ukhrul had allotted some quarters in the 7th Finance residential Colony for establishing temporary Bn.HQ in 1983 and since then occupied the area by constructing 5 Kutcha barracks and new 2 Kutcha barracks are also under construction by the Unit. The Unit has 100 acres of land at Yikun in between Hundung and Choither Villages at about 4 kms from Ukhrul town. Most of the construction work were completed about 10 years back but Bn.HQ was not shifted due to poor condition of approach road, non availability of water and weak strategic location. Most of the quarters and buildings are in dilapidated condition as not occupied. The department has also proposed to give away the area to some other department as per decision taken in the meeting Chaired by Hon'ble C.M. Manipur in December 2005. The joint survey of land and building was done along with Officials of ICAR, Imphal in June, 2006 for establishing KVK Centre but no progress as the ICAR is not pursuing the matter.
For the establishment of the Bn.HQrs. a land measuring 100 acres has been acquired by paying compensation worth Rs. 10,89,000/-. 7 Nos. of 40 S.M.
