The 2nd India Reserve Battalion was raised on 01/12/1997 and has completed 15 years, 10 months and 9 days as on 10/10/2013. Since the day of rising of the Battalion (1st December, 1997) the following have served this Unit as the Commandant during the period noted against their names:

The Battalion has been functioning from the available land and building of the erstwhile Scheduled Tribes Boys Hostel since 03/08/1998 and also a portion of land and buildings from Mahila Kalyan Samiti since May, 2000. Moreover, Home Department, Government of Manipur has allotted a piece of land measuring 82,53 acrs to 2nd IRB at Naranseina Under Bishnupur District vide order No. 03/05/(17)/2004-H dated 08/06/2006. However, it may be pertinent to mention here that the land presently held by this Unit is in the name of 1st IRB in the Jamabandi.
There is 1 (one) Baniya Canteen (run by civilian under contract)
The Battalion is having 1(one) Medical Officer and other staffs in the building of the erstwhile Scheduled Tribes Boys Hostel since 03/08/1998.Some jawans are also posted in this M.I. Room as Nursing Assistance to assist the Medical Officer.
Operations conducted during the period under review:
Battalion personnel have been deployed to the various guards and post including Residential guard-cum-escort to the Hon'ble MLA s/ Ministers and vital installations like Naraseina permanent Bn. Headquarter etc. the Unit is assisting the District police in combating insurgency problem by way of conducting C/I Ops against them by sending as many as 141 personnel of this unit as CDOs.

Details of decorations/Medals etc. received by Officers and men :
During the period under report, 16(sixteen) nos of Officers and men were decorated Police Medal for Gallantry and 3(three) nos. officers and men were decorated Police Medal for Meritorious Service and most of the personnel of the Battalion were awarded cash rewards for their good work/excellent work/performances during their duty.
During the period under report, 286 nos. of D.Es were initiated against 286 nos. of personnel of the Battalion. On disposal of the D.E, most of the personnel were awarded punishments for minor penalty i.e. stoppage of increments/Warning and 36 personnel were awarded major penalties of removal from service, dismissal and termination from service etc.

Moral of the personnel of the Battalion are at high and satisfactory, briefed them to maintain discipline at all the times and to avoid absenteeism.
