On 09/09/2014 at 9:50a.m., a convoy of
Commando(CDO), Manipur Rifles and Indian Reserve Battalion
were waylaid by well armed
militants suspected to be NSCN(IM) cadres attacking in full
force using lethal grenades and other sophisticated weapons to
the convoy at a place near Cement Factory, Hundung. The convoy
personnel also retaliated the attack and resulted in the
fierce encounter which lasted for about 15-20 minutes. He
jumped down from Gypsy and took position and was engaged in
retaliatory fire, not realising that he
was already hit by bullets and was bleeding seriously. He succumbed
to his injuries. |
