On 20/04/2013, 6 armed
guard-cum-escort personnel of Shri N. Millan Singh E.E.,PWD
Chandel and another 5 armed personnel proceeded to Moreh
escorting Shri Ng. Manglemjao Singh, SE/PWD, Chandel and Shri N.
Millan Singh, EE/PWD, Chandel. On the return journey from Moreh on
21/04/2013 at about 7:40 a.m., they were ambushed in between
Khudengthabi and Kwatha Lamkhai on NH-2 near 9 AR post by some
unknown U.G. outfits equipped with sophisticated weapons firing
simultaneously and also exploding 2 IEDs. The police team
retaliated and manage to repulse the attack of the UG's.
However, due to heavy firing
from the U.Gs. and explosion of IED, Seven(7) escort personnel got
serious injuries and out of them Rifleman Longjam Shachil Singh
succumbed to his injury. |
