On 24/02/2007, Unidentified persons armed with sophisticated weapons ambushed a security
convoy at Old Cachar road (Tongjei Maril). The ambush took place at near Khoirok Chiru Lamkhai (junction) in the
Laimaton hill range about 18 Kms. west of Bishnupur Bazar. Rifleman, K. Shyam
Sharma and other
personnel were returning in four trucks and two Maruti Gypsys from Khoupum village in Tamenglong district
where they were deployed for the third phase election held on 23/02/2007. Rifleman, K. Shyam Sharma was
succumbed to injuries. |
