On 12/02/2000, while the escort party of Hangkhanpao Taithul, candidate of 41-Chandel
A/C for Manipur Legislative Assembly by Election were returning from Sajik Tampak side towards Chakpikarong
in between Paldai and Salluk village, some unknown UG groups suspected to be KNA ambushed by using automatic
weapons on 8 MR escort team led by Jemadar L. Shyam Singh from a jungle area. During the ambush, he
sustained a serious bullet injury and succumbed to his injury at the spot. |
