Brief of incident

On 10/01/1997 at 6:00 p.m., Hon'ble
MLA Shri Mangi Singh and his escort team were coming
from Kumbi side in 2 (two) vehicles was ambushed between
Thinungei & Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou along with Tiddim
road by some unknown extremists numbering about 20/30.
As a result of which 6(six) personnel including Hon'ble
MLA sustained bullet injury and another 6 (six)
personnel including Lance Naik Md. Ahamad Ali Khan
succumbed to injuries at the spot and some of weapons of
escort party were snatched away by the miscreants and
both vehicles also badly damaged. One extremist killed
by the escort team on retaliation firing. |
