On 18/03/1996 in an ambush laid by some unknown armed extremists at Chingarel on Imphal Ukhrul
Road while he and escort party laid by SDPO Lamphel,
were proceeding towards Sawombung from Imphal in connection with an arson case of Government vehicle at
Sawombung and snatched away arms and ammunition by the extremists from the spot. In the encounter he was succumbed to bullet
injury. This refer to Case FIR No. 31(3)96 of Lamlai PS U/S 121/121A/302/307/326/397/427 IPC, 25(1-B)Arms Act and 13 UA(P)
